The University of Maryland has made significant investments in student mental health resources, yet a challenge persists: driving high, measurable engagement with available tools. This stark gap between investment and utilization presents a critical opportunity to harness student talent, not just to solve a problem, but to create a viable, scalable solution.

xFoundry’s 15-month Mental Health Xperience Competition is designed to meet that challenge.

Following a successful inaugural School Safety Competition, which culminated in the launch of DefenX, the next Xperience Competition focuses on developing a high-engagement solution - an app, product, or service - that demonstrably improves student mental health on college campuses.

Built as a systematic accelerator, Xperience Competitions are structured to produce an investment-ready company. Teams advance through four rigorous validation gates, each reviewed by external experts and investors. To move forward, participants must present substantial evidence of product-market fit, with a particular emphasis on validating user adoption through clear, quantifiable metrics.

Participants receive access to custom tools and mentorship throughout the program. Corporate sponsors provide AI compute resources (Intel) and a limited number of bio-tracking rings (ÅŒura) to qualifying teams to support their solution development and meet the high technical and business standards required to attract external investment.

Registration for the Mental Health Xperience Competition closes March 31, 2026. Eligible students across all UMD College Park and UMB Baltimore schools and colleges are invited to participate.
